Welcome at Harriston School
Harriston School was founded twenty-nine years ago through the shared vision of a group of parents who wished to establish an independent, Christian faith-based school in Harrismith. Since its inception, the school has remained committed to discovering and developing the unique talents of every learner — a philosophy that has contributed greatly to its success over the past three decades.
Situated in the heart of the Harrismith community, Harriston School is proud to provide quality, inclusive education to learners from a wide geographical area. Our boarding establishment, managed by caring and dedicated staff, offers a safe, nurturing, and family-oriented environment for students away from home.
A passionate, well-qualified and committed team of teacher guides learners throughout their educational journey, from the early childhood phase (RRR) through to Matric. Harriston School also offers a Special Needs Education (SNE) class, which caters for learners who progress at different learning paces and require additional support. The school offers a wide variety of sporting and cultural activities, complementing a strong academic programme and ensuring the holistic development of every learner. Phases & Programmes
From our Early Learning Centre through to the FET Phase, Harriston provides a nurturing pathway where learners grow step by step into confident, capable young adults.
Early Learning Centre
A supportive and engaging environment ensures young learners feel safe and valued, while dedicated teachers guide each child’s unique development, nurturing confidence, independence, and a passion for learning.
Junior Primary
At Harriston School, our small classes are led by committed, caring and passionate teachers who give every child the individual attention they deserve. We believe that each learner is unique and strive to help every child develop to their full potential.
Senior Primary
The Senior Primary Phase provides a supportive and engaging learning environment where learners develop knowledge, confidence, and independence. Through strong academic foundations, innovative learning experiences, and dedicated teacher guidance, learners are encouraged to think critically, grow in character, and prepare successfully for the challenges of high school.
High School
Learners are prepared for the IEB National Senior Certificate through a strong academic programme that consistently achieves excellent results and opens doors to leading tertiary institutions, while also fostering well-rounded development through a balanced focus on knowledge, character, and resilience, inspiring each learner to strive for excellence and contribute meaningfully to society.
Our SNE Programme
The SNE class at Harriston is a busy class with the focus on teaching and learning. Currently the classroom is situated in the ELC block of the campus.
Our phased approach to education provides learners with a strong foundation for lifelong learning and success. Through dedicated teaching, individual support, and enriching opportunities, learners are encouraged to grow academically, socially, and emotionally at every stage of their development.

Athletics
Our students are passionate about sports and athletics and have the freedom to choose the one they like and wish to take up.
Hockey
Hockey encourages teamwork, skill development, strategic thinking, and commitment through competitive matches and league participation.
Tennis
Tennis develops focus, perseverance, sportsmanship, and individual responsibility while encouraging learners to achieve their personal best.
